About Us

Six years ago Breen Elementary won the chance to break ground with our very own garden with the help of Green Acres Nursery.

Ever since then we have been dedicated to the growth of not only our plants but our students and our community. Through the power of nature and practical experience our kids have been able to watch plants grow from the seeds they themselves planted up into the food they get to harvest and enjoy. This new perspective into the food they never thought twice about before has broadened their minds and pallets as they become excited to try new foods and have a heightened appreciation for the natural world around them.

The Breen School Garden seeks to provide experiential learning opportunities that promote science, connection to the earth’s ecosystems and food resources.  Coordinating with parents, volunteers and teachers we will work to provide hands-on discovery-based learning opportunities for students that enrich and support our academic curriculum.
